Danielle Ellis
A simple, delicious wintery dish full of spice. If you don't have all the spices to hand, simply leave those out. The flavour will still be good!

Instructions
Place the spices, wine, 25 gr sugar, the spices and peel if using into a large saucepan. Heat gently whilst you prepare the pears
Peel the pears, slice in half and remove the core and stalks.
Place into the wine mixture - the wine should cover the pears.
Simmer gently for approx 20-25 minutes until the pears are soft. This will vary depending on the ripeness of your pears.
The pears will have taken up the colour from the wine and will have turned a lovely red colour.
Check for sweetness and add more sugar if required.
To serve, remove the whole spices. Add the sloe gin if using. Serve the liquid in a glass if required.
